Yesterday, The Kentucky Theater closed as well. And though it rained all day, Kremena and I were greeted everywhere with smiles and offers of hospitality. Because of the corona virus, we turned down both an invitation to a Palestinian lunch (which we would normally never ever dream of doing) and a container of pickled beets: good for the immune system.

Kurt Gohde and Kremena Todorova capture photographs at the periphery of American culture, where drag queens, discarded couches, and abandoned motel signs exist.
