During what many Kentuckians now affectionately call “Andy Hour,” Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear shared some good news: as of today, independent contractors, small-business owners, substitute teachers, gig economy workers, childcare workers employed by religious-affiliated organizations and non-profits, cosmetologists, and anyone who has had to leave their job because of quarantine qualifies for unemployment in Kentucky. “There is zero stigma—zero—to being on public assistance,” our Governor emphasized.
