Amani: “Today, May 9th at 3pm, would have been the day I walked across that stage at Rupp Arena with my name being called, receiving my degree four years in the making. My brother would have taken his walk in just a few short weeks. There were many times I wondered if I would make it to this day. The many late nights staying up to finish assignments. The many tears shed. But I wouldn’t be here today without the love and support of my friends and family. Especially my amazing mother. I might not be walking across a stage, but love and celebrations are still in order! In lieu of a party, my mother decided to host a graduation parade where we will pass out homemade sweets to friends and family from a safe 6 feet away! Congrats to me, my brother, and all the graduates of 2020!”
