Jack and Finn with Worm

Two young boys stand on the concrete steps of a brick home with blue columns; one (left) has his arms crossed behind his back while the other in colorful gingham tilts a blue cup open revealing an earthworm.

Just before we arrived, Finn had found a worm. He was quite happy to be able to show it off.

Ellen: Hi, this is Ellen, mother of Jack and Finn. I want my children—and all children—to grow up in a … in a world where their color doesn’t matter, their background doesn’t matter, they get to just be kids. I’d love them to graduate into a world where they are free to pursue opportunities regardless, again, of socio-economic status, or background, or ethnicity. I want them to understand that people are people and that we are all really the same.
