John and Kim

John Ferguson and Kim Conlee are musicians and artists in Lexington, Kentucky. Kim performs with Bear Medicine, Jeanne Vomit-Terror, Big Fresh, ATTEMPT, The Nativity Singers, The Rosemont Trio, and fronts her own band, Frigid Kitty, where she writes and records her own music. John performs with Big Fresh, ATTEMPT, Jeanne Vomit-Terror, The Apples in Stereo, and is the producer of the local variety show Dream Wishes. John is the father of three teenagers, Erickson, Violet, and Love, who fill his life with joy and humility. John and Kim have been lucky to have each other through this pandemic, focusing on playing music at home, editing Dream Wishes segments, hanging out with friends (socially distanced, of course), and working on recording music and videos while access to live venues has shut down. They feel incredibly lucky to have their health, their friendships, their family, and the stability needed to get through such challenging times.

Lexington in the Time of COVID-19 is an artwork about people practicing social distancing at a time of a deadly virus. And also offering kindness.

Kurt Gohde and Kremena Todorova capture photographs at the periphery of American culture, where drag queens, discarded couches, and abandoned motel signs exist.
